Storage and backups

Where Ascent Reader keeps downloads, backups and your own files.

The reader's folder

By default the reader uses Download/Ascent Reader on your phone's storage, created the first time it is needed. Android lets the app use this folder without asking for access to your other files.

Choosing another folder

Go to More → Settings → Data and storage and choose a storage location. Android asks you to pick the folder and grant access to it. Move existing files yourself if you want to keep them; the reader starts using the new folder straight away.

Backups

• Automatic backups are written to autobackup/ on the schedule set in Data and storage.
• Create backup saves a backup file wherever you choose.
• Restore backup brings back your library, categories, reading progress and settings. Downloads are not inside backups; keep the downloads/ folder to keep them.

Freeing space

Delete downloaded chapters from a series page, or clear the reader's cache in Data and storage. Clearing the cache does not remove your library or downloads.
