Updates

Ascent is updated through Google Play.

Ascent does not download updates to itself. New versions arrive from Google Play like any other app; to get them as soon as they are released, open Ascent's page in Google Play and make sure automatic updates are on.

What updates by itself

• Ad and tracker lists refresh about every three days while you use the browser, and Ascent's own list of newly found ads a few times a day. These are lists of rules; no program code is downloaded.
• Browser extensions update from the Chrome Web Store.
• Reader extensions are updated from Ascent Reader: Discover → Extensions shows updates for the repositories you added.
• Text recognisers for Chinese, Japanese and Korean are downloaded by Google Play services the first time they are needed.
